Computers exposed by anti-virus flaws

SMH.com.au : "Anti-virus software products from Symantec and McAfee suffered security setbacks this week with the emergence of vulnerabilities that exposed Windows users to external attacks. Both Symantec and McAfee said they had issued patches for the vulnerabilities. Although no specific intrusions were reported, bugs such as these are considered serious as, once their presence has been detected, unpatched computers remain exposed to the possibility of future attacks. The vulnerability affecting the McAfee software was revealed in a security advisory issued by iDefense, a division of VeriSign." Read More

McAFee predicts more mobile malware in 2006

Digital Media Asia: News : "Security software company McAfee this week announced its forecast for security threats in 2006, including the prediction of increased threats for mobile devices. Since the first mobile malware was spotted in June 2004, according to McAfee, there has been steady growth in mobile viruses and Trojans. McAfee's Avert Labs expects to see a significant rise in 2006, especially as smartphones and other mobile devices are increasingly connected to the internet. " Read More
